Sweetness of honey From: June Ritchie 29 Sep 2011 (09:47)
In my garden there are two shrubs one large and one small their names are (small) Sedum. The (large) Buddleia Daviddi. Both of these are avidly sought by Butterflies, moths and bees. not only to visit but also they just sit quietly on them not moving and re visit them again and again. One day I examined them by the way of smell and was amazed to fine that both carry the clear scent of HONEY! as always God used it to talk to me of His word.
Psalm 119 V103; How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth. The attraction of the written word to a dedicated student is obvious here in David\'s words. We find it confirmed in Psalm 19 V10; More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Both of these remind me of the shrubs and the constant attention the butterflies and moths pay to them.
But then also here we find his comment on the VALUE! More to be desired than gold, yea , than much fine gold. Gold in today\'s world is what many outlets are advertising and pressing for It represents wealth and security because gold doesnt perish! Psalm 19 V11 says; Moreover by them is thy servant warned; and in keeping of them there is great reward. David has shown us in these two Psalms a clear way to prosper and to profit but not simply in provision also in soul comfort and strength. To me especially at this time the honey of God\'s word never loses its taste it is strong and sweet and i too like the butterfly wish only to dwell upon it as my mainstay.
