THORN CROSS YOUNG OFFENDERS INSTITUTE MONDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 2011 From: TREFLYN JONES 16 Sep 2011 (14:53)
Just a brief report regarding last nights Victim Impact RJ session. Last nights RJ event was the hardest hitting to date as Lyn, Mick Connolly, daughter Joanne and son in law Don all participated in sharing the traumatic event of the murder of Paul. There were 46 prisoners in attendance and although we used all of the time allotted the atmosphere was electric and all seemed to be riveted on each speaker in turn. Many of our young people were physically shaken and moved to tears, even though forgiveness and reconciliation were highlighted by Lyn and Mick.

When prayer was offered for those who were struggling most responded. At the very end of the event I called Lyn, Mick, Joanne and Don to the front of the chapel and asked if any of our young people felt they wanted God to bless our guests, to come forward & join me as I prayed a blessing for them. Virtually all of the prisoners came to give their blessing and thanks to Lyn, Mick, Joanne, and Don. It was a very moving experience.

I am so very thankful for Lyn and Mick, Joanne and Don coming and sharing with our young people; they have really made such a difference for our young poeple. I am also very thankful for Sycamore PF facilitator Arthur Chapman & Treflyn Jones and the Task Jesus team from Warrington as there were a lot of young people who needed someone to talk with and pray with afterwards. Finally I wold like to express my thanks to Steve Ravenscroft for his support for this very important event.

Thanks very much for your support for all of our Sycamore Tree Victim Awareness work Andy.

Best regards

Shawn Verhey
Chaplain.
