Servant Hood

By: Janessa

Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of God. Galatians 1:10 (NIV)

Do you remember that rush of the first day of school? You spend that entire morning, sometimes the night before, picking out that perfect outfit. It was so important to look perfect your first day. Or maybe it was a time where you were going on a date and you spent hours getting ready. We all strive to win the approval people. Whether that is through the way we dress or the way we act around them. We want people to like us. This verse in Galatians really makes the Christian want to reevaluate where their heart motives are. We need to question whether we are living a life for the approval of men or the approval of others. We are called to a life of servant hood; most importantly to be a servant of God. A Christian should be living their life to constantly be seeking the approval of God. The world tells us that we should be seeking one another's approval. It is very clear we can’t have the best of both worlds. We can’t live a life seeking the approval of both men and God. When you gave your life to Christ you became a new person and a servant God. If you chose to serve men over him, then the question has to be are you living a life of servant hood to Christ?
