|WE NEED TO REPENT TO BE SAVED
||From: derek leslie

|This is in line with what Brenda Teal wrote about repentance. (my own input).
Praise the lord. Even though we are for given our sins when we accept Jesus and become born again, (because we are forgiven by his sacrifice and washed clean) we are still called into repentance.Acts 2:38 when St Peter said repent and be baptized and Then you will receive the Holy Spirit. Some now days are preaching that we don\'t need to repent only just Claim your salvation. Which is not what the bible teachers.we need to be careful of such teaching.
I once spoke to a Christian who before becoming one. was involved in the occult etc. Told me the best way to get rid of evil spirits from the past is a good repentance. How true this statement is.
There is nothing better for the soul than a deep, weeping, broken repentance.crying out to God for forgiveness.
I know because it took me three months or more every night for hours.
Before I felt clean. (has I have told in my testimony.) it took that long for a breakthrough. For the Holy Spirit to fall on me. Thats why I know its so important to repent.and ask for forgiveness. see Acts 2:38 for the requirement of repentance. Also when ST Peter said you will receive the holy spirit it does not always mean straight away. acts 8:15 to verse 18 proves this. Most preach that you receive the Holy Spirit the moment that you accept Christ. By raising your hand,and saying the sinners prayer.
But they cant explain acts 8:15 where they were even bapistised and still did not receive The Holy Spirit. But to keep their theology they try to explain it away with a non biblical Explanation. They cant except there can be a time delay.
Repentance is the key to the baptism of the Spirit,and forgiveness.
Even Earth Quake Kelly at the end of the DVD video on revelation TV. Called for repentance. And before the name it claim it teachers from the USA. say when we repent, we are trying to do it by our own works by repenting. We are not. we are just doing what the bible tells us too .its they who distort the truth, the only other spirit being, who says there is no need to repent for what so ever reason is not from God, and we know who that spirit being is.
He does not want us to cry to God for forgiveness.so he spreads the lie that we don\'t need to, in his usual suttle way.by false teaching.and Christians get sucked in by it.
Remember that it is said that we are been saved not saved. We need to repent for the sins That we do now every day. If you think that you don\'t need to repent you are very much mistaken. You must be perfect if you don\'t need to.
God wants to see a truly, repentant broken heart.sorry for past sins.and present.
see Acts 3:19 repent then, turn to God so that your sins can be forgiven and times of refeshing may come from the Lord.

|We need to repent to be saved
||From: Dean Seddon

|I agree, repentance is essential to salvation, also for true repentance there needs to be a conviction of Sin, and faith, all of which are gifts from God.
The Holy Spirit brings conviction of Sin, God gives the gift of faith.
For someone to make a decision to follow Jesus, it truly is an act of God. No one can talk someone into being convicted of sin or preach someone into conviction, only condemnation.
None of us can really make a judgement about someone elses salvation in honesty, but we can make a judgement on our own, are we truly living in a manner which pleases God, are we, despite our failings, doing all He commanded for us?
The key for any person embarking on evangelism is to share truth in love, be open to God and be real with the person, then the power of the spirit can move.

|Good words and many thoughts.....we need to be reminded...yes, we are \"being saved, it says in God Word.......we have to work out our salvation.........
We have to turn around, i.e. from all the things that destroy our new life.....God shows us, step by step....we are clean when we give our hearts to Jesus, cause HE took all our sins on Calvary, but sometimes we need healing, and HE shows us this, when we turn around and start following HIM, and then we get remorse for the things HE wants to heal us from.....We live on Gods Word and not on feelings, so we have to have faith in HIS WORD all the time, thats why its so important to really get into the WORD, HHE IS THE WORD, THE WORD BECAME FLESH AND DWELT AMONG US..........Christians who dont spend time in Gods Word become poor christians without any real power, we dont want to be like that, we want to walk in HIS POWER, THATS WHAT THE WORLD WANTS TO SEE!! tHE hOLY sPIRIT DOES COME AND LIVE IN US WHEN WE GET SAVED, BUT IT HAS TO BE ACTIVATED, therefore it must be planted in good soil , not in bad soil, rocks, thornes etc.........we have to mean what we do from the heart and act on it...walking by faith not by sight........ Baptism of the Holy spirit....yes, the day of penticost, the upperroom experience...flames of fire came upon them and they all spoke in diffr. languages.....def. this is VERY important!!! and it is POWER FROM ON HIGH...AND WE DESP. NEED THIS POWER NOW IN THESE VERY LAST DAYS....ITS NOT BY WORDS, BUT BY MY POWER, SAYS THE LORD.......
i DONT KNOW WHY SOME DONT GET THE TONGUES AND SOME DO, but i know that when i got it (19yrs old) i was pretty desperate to get something to survive....i just had to have it.......and i got it..........but that is also a prosess...to use it so you can gain all the benefits God wants us to have by using it.....(will write abt. that some other time)
The tragedy is that some have just taken this gift and applied it by themselves, they have been taught to say something and they keep on repeating this one word or two, BUT i dont think that is from God...God decides, not us....we have to be careful...not misusing gifts, that can be very dangerous......(another topic)
Agree - brokeness of spirit shows true repentance, and in that we get healing.....wonderful!!! Just going to church and listn. to sermons does not give true brokeness, we have to spend many hours with God to experience this, and its wonderful when it happen. \"IN THE CRADLE OF HIS MERCY, UNDERNEATH THE CRIMSON BLOOD,YOULLE BE COVERED BY HIS BLOOD\"

|john the baptizer said repent for the kingdom of God is near.
When john said this he knew that the only way to jesus was by TURNING away from sin, there is only one way and like brother d has said, but can i ask If the holyghost is not involed wen the prayer of repentance is said, how can that person be convicted of sin! I\'m sure the holyghost has to be involved from the begining? but now i like to ask about salvation, WHY HE said to jeremiah before the world was created i knew you, So can i ask was the holyghost involed then? There is no-where in the bible that gives me or you the right to sin, But i do believe that Gods love is greater then sin.
So i ask again is this acase off once saved always saved ? For again we are told as far as the east is from the west so are our sins. I honstley believe that there is to much talking about the bible when it clearly tells us to go in to the world and tell people the way of repantance dont you think that this is more inportant rather then saying who believes this and i believe that ?
Even as i wright this people are dieing with out no hope, so lets stop saying this that and the other, lets pray lord help me to help them that are preishing.
People are going to hell and all i see here is arguments about the bible well stop arguing and lets start doing.
JESUS himself said GO INTO THE WORLD, not sit at home at our P.C and talk about him. WHEN HE TAKES ME HOME I WANT HIM TO SAY TO ME WELL DONE GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.Jesus is coming back. we HAVE to tell them that are without him this, so why is there always debates in here about the word, lets not talk about it LETS DO IT ok.

|Repenting to be saved
||03 Dec 2010 (14:56)
|My time is limited to respond to this but I feel I must try and be as concise as I can about this topic.
Please, we must be careful that we don\'t push new Christians into a world of legalism. For sure, we repent daily, just as we take our daily ablutions. But please, don\'t be like those foolish Galatians that the apostle Paul wrote to, because they had done a complete \'U\' turn, deciding they MUST observe certain rituals or laws in order to maintain their salvation.
If we must go to God every day in repentance, in order to \'Keep our Salvation\', it becomes no better than a salvation by works! And no better than Judaism or Islam. It\'s a little like a wealthy Father who seeks out His long lost son. On finding him, He gives him a magnificent mansion to live in. Completely and utterly FREE, bought and Paid for by his first born son. After living in the mansion for a while, the son goes to the Father and insists on paying rent. In spite of the fact that the mansion has been given to him for FREE!
On the day, hour, minute, second, you truly repent of your sins and receive the Lord Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you are forgiven for every sin you have or ever will commit - Period! I know there are many Christians out there who live with this terrible burden of sin that God has already forgiven them for. It is a lie of the devil and one of his favourite schemes to keep Christians from enjoying the freedom of knowing they have been forgiven for ALL of their sins.
I am sure, like me, many of you will know of someone who responds to every altar call they hear. They just don\'t have that confidence to know they are forgiven, saved, and now, a child of God. Read through Paul\'s letters carefully and prayerfully. Especially Galatians. Only then will you realise I am not advocating a \'Once saved I can live how I please\' attitude. Jesus spoke of the person who is forgiven much, loving much. And this is the key. If a person is truly repentent; that is, after they have been touched by God\'s Holy Spirit and recognise their sin for what it is, they receive God\'s forgiveness by nothing more than His grace, then the will to obey and follow the Master is far greater than the will to be disobediant.
Let me take you a step further with this. Pin back your ears and fasten your seat belts. Some of you might just take offence at what I am about to say. let\'s begin by asking ourselves, How did I become \'Born again\' of God\'s Holy Spirit? If your answer is anything like; I prayed the sinner\'s prayer, or, if you claim any credit whatsoever for receiving Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you are not only terribly wrong you have completely missed out on the entire dependency we have on God\'s awesome Grace. It is by grace we have been saved, not of ourselves, but as a GIFT from God. Furthermore, scripture tells us we were chosen by God before the foundations of the world were in place. It\'s this whole pre-destination doctrine that sadly, more Christians prefer to avoid than face up to. The sooner we recognise that we had no hand in our salvation, the sooner we will begin to appreciate the magnitude of God\'s awesome grace for each and every one of us. Our Lord Jesus said to His disciples, \'You did not choose me but I chose you\'. And it is the same with every one of us. We have been chosen by God to go out and bear much fruit. So, how do I reconcile myself with the awesome fact that God chose lil ole sinful me from the beginning of time? Simple. God, who is omniscient [All knowing] knew from the beginning of time, all those who would respond to His calling. Gotcha!
Because we were chosen before the world was even in place, we, who have repented and received the Lord Jesus as their saviour, can confidently say, we died with Christ on the cross and we were raised with Him. Now, we are seated in the heavenly realms.
For sure, as Paul writes, we remain prisoners of our sinful bodies, nevertheless, in the spiritual realm, in God\'s Kingdom we are saved, sanctified and one day we will be glorified. Hallelujah! And as we remain in our sinful flesh, there will be times when we will fall foul to its demands. The more we do so without repenting, the more distant God will seem to be in our lives. basically because, unrepentant sin in a Christians life will not condemn them to hell, as it will for the unbeliever, but it does create a fog like barrier between us. Like a bad signal on your mobile phone, because of the sinful distractions we allow in our lives, we fail to hear God clearly. God has a plan for each and every one of us and we need to be alert to His calling if we are to hear what He wants from us. If you have ever tagged on to a \'Conga\' dance as it travels around the room, you will have soon realised, you can\'t trust the person immediately in front of you. You need to keep a watchful eye on the head of the Conga if you\'re to be sure of heading in the right direction. We don\'t, at least we shouldn\'t be getting by in our walk with God by looking at other Christians but by looking at God, through His Word.
Please, don\'t put the burden of sin, as if unrepentant, back on the shoulders of Christians who have already repented and been forgiven for them. Our sin has been removed by God as far as the east is from the west. Don\'t let the enemy taunt you about sin that God has already forgiven you for. When the enemy reminds you of your past sins, you just need to quote God\'s promise that you are forgiven. There is therefore now, no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. And that is precisely where all truly born again, repentant followers of Jesus are. Take up your Bible and a small piece of paper. The Bble represents Jesus and the piece of paper is you. Now, place the piece of paper inside the Bible and close it. When you go looking for yourself, all you can see is the Bible. This is how it is for Christians who are \'IN Christ\'. When God looks at us he sees His son Jesus. He doesn\'t see our sinfulness because we have been forgiven. Paul writes, our lives are now hidden in Christ.
I\'m sorry I haven\'t included the relevant scriptures here, due to time constraints, but I would be happy to furnish you with them should you so wish. www.biblegateway.com is a great site for searching for scriptures if you don\'t already have a thessaurus. Let me end by recommending two books I believe all Christians should read. The first one, Billy Graham said precisely that about it. \'Search for significance\' by Robert McGee. And \'Putting the amazing back into grace\' by Michael Horton.
I feel genuinely sorry for Christians who still live with the burden of past sins that were forgiven by God a long time ago. We live by faith not by site. He who the son sets fre is free indeed. Believe me, in the eyes of the world I am the ugliest, filthiest being that could ever live. But in God\'s sight, I am seated in the heavenly realms wearing my robes of righteousness. As ALL of you are.
Many blessings and Love in Christ Jesus

|rentence to be/being saved......
||04 Dec 2010 (07:56)
|yes, Mike, youre so right, even now, many years later i can think of things (God brings to mind) and have to tell God im sorry, i know HE has forgiven me, but i just get this sense of HIS amazing GRACE and get overwhelmed by HIS wonderful love, saving us all the time and making us holy, so we can see HIM more clearly, what a wonderful FATHER we have! the only way to get closer to HIM is to spend quality time with HIM so HE is on our minds day and night, cause thats the way it works....you cant get HIM off your mind! wonderful...and then the world or other religios people can say what they like and think youre crazy,it doesnt matter, THAT is def. the \"secret\" of life!!! halleluja!!!! no matter what you do, HE will show you HIS view or picture in that situation (even when looking at football)!when you have your mind fixed on HIM.
Last Sunday at morning service i got this vision of the progical son while the worship leader was singing his song........i saw the progical son (Luke 15) come running into his fathers arms as fast as he could ...(i always picture myself as the progical son, as i was such) and the wonderful reunion they had.....such love........and all was forgiven, fotgotten, in an instant! no pointing finger, it was just a safe harbour to come home to!!!! and then the celebration afterwards, the big feast, celebrating that he had come home! just like some of have experienced after many years \"in a foreign land\" = how wonderful OUR FATHER IS! wanting all the best for us !in an instant, all is forgiven!!! And then...the picture of the eldest son who had been in the household of his father all the time......he didnt even know what was going on....he didnt even know what the feast was for...and when he heard about it, he got angry, jealous ,hurt, he couldnt understand why his father had accepted the youngest son back so easly , with such celebration when he had been SO BAD!!!! he thaught it was so unfair, and a waste of money that was to go to his inheritance, ...... = i think this is a good picture of how the church many places , functions.today THE HOLY SPIRIT is activated in the souls of those who want to know GOD more.....we work together in a team (should) in church, if the leader is in his right position with God , he should know the holy spirit so well that he should sense the \"team playing\" (like football) and let each do his work by the power of THE HOLY SPIRIT ....this gives the wonderful results we are waiting for and we move forward......... the eldest son at home in Luke 15 is a typical picture of a religious person who is just thinking of his own rights and benefits and rewards and doesnt care anything about anybody else...he took no real interest in his fathers house, as he didnt even know what was going on when they prepared the feast., he was only occupied with what he was doing and thaught that earned him all the benefits.....this is a good picture of how the religious are in church, they will not know what is going on, if they dont know the father by his holy spirit....so its important to know who you are talking to about what (dont throw pearls to swine) ...anyway, i guess we must have open hearts, as long as there is life there is hope..!!??and we have to keep on believing!. (thats another topic i guess.....being leaders in the church...many called, but few chosen....!)
|GETTING ON WITH GOD
||From: TREFLYN JONES
||04 Dec 2010 (08:10)
|As Born Again Believers we need to live our lives in a way fitting for people who have a real ongoing relationship with GOD.
Good words and many thoughts.....we need to be reminded...yes, we are \"being saved, it says in God Word.......we have to work out our salvation.........
The actual HERMENEUTIC (which means \"I EXPLAIN\") of that pasage in
Philippians 2:12 (King James Version)
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Philippians 2:12 (New International Version, ©2010)
12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,
Philippians 2:12 (Contemporary English Version)
12 My dear friends, you always obeyed when I was with you. Now that I am away, you should obey even more. So work with fear and trembling to discover what it really means to be saved.
Philippians 2:12 (New Living Translation)
12 Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear.
‘work out your own *salvation’. Paul does not mean that the Christians at Philippi must work to earn their *salvation. He is writing to those who are Christians. So they already know Christ’s *salvation. It was theirs as a free gift from God (Ephesians 2:8). Paul’s word that we have translated ‘work out’ comes in the works of Strabo. He was a *Greek who lived in the days of Jesus. Strabo describes how the *Romans ‘worked out’ the great silver mines of Spain. In other words, they were getting all the silver that they could from the mines. So Christians must work hard to get all the wonderful riches that their *salvation in Christ has for them. ‘with fear and *trembling’. This does not mean the terror of a slave in front of a cruel master. It means the honour that we should give to our holy and powerful God.
THAT SCRIPTURE IS TELLING US TO WORK OUT OUR OWH \"HOLYNESS\", THAT IS WHAT WAS ACTUALLY WRITTEN AT THE TIME FOR THE PEOPLE. IT\'S SO EASY TO TAKE THE WORDS THAT HAVE BEEN USED IN TRANSLATION AND THAT MISLEADS US INTO THINKING WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ELSE. THINK ABOUT IT, WE CAN\'T WORK OUT OUR OWN SALVATION, IF WE COULD DO THAT THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO NEED FOR JESUS TO DIE ON THE CROSS FOR OUR SINS. I BELEIVE THAT JESUS DIED FOR ALL OF OUR SINS THROUGHOUT OUR LIVES, NOT FOR THOSE SINS COMMITTED UP TO THE MOMENT OF OUR SALVATION AND THAT FROM THAT TIME ONWARDS WE HAVE TO PAY A PENNANCE FOR ALL NEW SINS, THAT AGAIN WOULD BE POINTLESS. WHAT THE SCRIPTURES TEACHES US IS THAT WHEN WE ARE SAVED AND BORN AGAIN WE NEED TO BEHAVE AND DO OUR BEST TO OPERATE IN A SINLESS LIFE, BUT WE KNOW THAT TEMPTATION WILL BE PUT BEFORE US AND WE CAN BE CAUGHT OUT.... IT HAPPENS!!
2 Timothy 3:16 (King James Version)
16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2 Timothy 3:16 (New International Version, ©2010)
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
2 Timothy 3:16 (Contemporary English Version)
16Everything in the Scriptures is God\'s Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live.
2 Timothy 3:16 (New Living Translation)
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
THE SCRIPTURES ARE THERE TO HELP US TO BECOME BETTER BEHAVED PEOPLE, GOD CHANGES US. WE ACCEPT THAT GOD CHANGES US, WE HAVE TO CO-OPERATE, WE MUST DO OUR PART OTHERWISE IT WILL NOT WORK.
Take this as an analogy.
Let\'s asume we own a motor car which runs on PETROL, we don\'t put DIESEL in it because it will not work. If we continue to put DIESEL in the car, we will continue to have problems. It\'s the same with our lives, we have to learn not to operate in a sinful life because it will cause problems for us. It doesn\'t stop GOD loving us, and it doesn\'t change what JESUS did for us on the cross. If we say we are CHRISTIANS and have a real ongoing relationship with JESUS how can we live a life which is in disobedience to his call on our life? (THAT\'S ANOTHER SUBJECT)
When we say WE REPENT we need to know what we are saying:-
To turn from sin to do what God wants us to do; to decide not to do the bad things that you did before; when you turn your mind away from bad things.
A change of mind and heart; to turn away from sin and turn to God.
To change one\'s attitude and behaviour.
To turn from sin to God\'s ways; to change from past evil ways; a change of mind and heart in turning away from wrong.
IF WE BELIEVE THAT WE CAN ACHIEVE SALVATION BY WHAT WE DO, THEN THAT BECOMES WORKS AND SALVATION WAS A GIFT FROM GOD. NO ONE EARNED IT..WE DO NOT HAVE TO DO WORKS TO RETAIN IT.
We as Christians ned to live a HOLY life by turning away from sin, NOT AS WORKS or DEEDS FOR SALVATION but to show that we are not affected and under the influence of the DEVIL who will bring misery and sickness into our lives.
The scriptures teach us how to live a life for CHRIST.
We need to be in a CHURCH (the people) AND UNDER LEADERSHIP WHICH TEACHES US (and not yokes us) to understand the scriptures and seek out GOD\'s will for our lives.
Many thanks for this thread.
I would recomend that you order TESTIMONIES 3 DVD from the FREE DVD/CD RESOURCES on this website and watch ROBERT STEVENS teaching on Philipians 2:12 - WORKING OUT OUR OWN SALVATION.

|repentance and faith
||From: June Ritchie
||05 May 2011 (10:20)
|Its always a good thing to remember the moment of one\'s salvation. it is still so clear to me that moment of grace! But so many other moments are recalled as well the fact that I was a doubter through ignorance (years of church had not heard the gospel of salvation once!)theres so much can be said by scriptures to help but for people not taught in scriptures doubt sets in. After salvation I went to a new church and know now I was led to it as it had a born again vicar and four couples who were all well saved. Even today I can hear my friend\'s faithful voice saying to me \"June do you know your saved\" I would reply \"I hope I am\" but she would loyally persist again and again over a twelve month period. Despite a deeply spiritual time with Christ utterly moved and broken by the Holy Spirit over the matter of sin, I could still doubt! I could remember every thing that happened on that glorious Good Friday, even the holy presence as I wept in repentance and the very moment Jesus actually shut off my tears like a tap, but my heart was so sore and wounded by previous sins, it was an effort to realise I had fully gained salvation. When did that realisation come? When I started to witness to the first soul I won. I then knew that I knew that I knew I was saved and no devil has ever been able to put me in doubt again. The way to certainty is go tell it on the mountains, declare it boldly and sure knowledge and blessed assurance comes in. It\'s a personal feeling in the spirit that no one can take away we can rest in it and reveal that same place to others. Being an active witness is important even to drunks and addicts God gives boldness and assurance. Even to drop pouts and homeless street dwellers if its real to us beyond any doubts there is no difficulty. The danger is keeping silent its not meant to be kept in its meant to be shared with the lost.
