|David was tempted and sinned with the woman, He forgot the early lesson when king saul tried to give him his armour when david took on goliath 1Sam 17V38-39. The kings armour did not fit David but he knew it would be useless and he cast it off.
David knew he was dealing with more than just the flesh. Unfortunately this where many fail in the battle against temptations. We have a tendency to go it alone and try and reslove temptations and spiritual battles in our own strength. and end up on many occaisons giving in and submitting, thinking i will do better next time, but feeling guilty, ashamed and condemned. this is where satan mocks you. We really dont have to go down that road if we really absorb the Word of God. We need to encourage and stir ourselves up a bit more and stay that extra 15 minutes in prayer, also give up those precious minutes of your busy lifestyle, whether its work, kids, spouses, telly[ouch] surfing the net and to spend them reading His Precious life giving Words of protection and promises.
\"You might say its easier said then done\".
The bible gives the answer how to deal with that.
Eph 5:15-16 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Eph 5:19-20 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
ONCE YOU HAVE SUBMITTED YOURSELVES TO THE WILL OF GOD YOU WILL KNOW YOUR EMPOWERED, YOU WILL KNOW THE ARMOUR OF GOD IS UPON YOU AND YOU WILL BE PREPARED AND EQUIPPED TO DEAL WITH YOUR BATTLES AND TEMPTATIONS
Jas 4:7 Therefore submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
[David chose five smooth [honed] stones which ironically total the amount of THE ARMOR OF GOD].
Eph 6:10 Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world\'s rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Therefore take to yourselves the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Therefore stand, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness
Eph 6:15 and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
Eph 6:16 Above all, take the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God,
Eph 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
Eph 6:19 And pray for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,
Eph 6:20 for which I am an ambassador in bonds; so that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Eph 6:21 But, so that you also may know my affairs and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things,
Eph 6:22 whom I have sent to you for the same purpose, that you might know our affairs and that he might comfort your hearts.
Eph 6:23 Peace to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Eph 6:24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
