the parable of the 10 virgins From: maryann 03 Sep 2012 (21:38)
A story told to illustrate what will happen just before the rapture takes place, when the rapture takes place, and after the rapture has taken place.

a basic rule for correct Biblical interpretation and biblical understandings is to use , whenever possible, the Bible , to interpret itself.

Matthew 25 1 to 13.
THEN SHALL THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN BE LIKENED UNTO 10 VIRGINS WHO TOOK THEIR LAMPS AND WENT FORTH TO MEET THE BRIDEGROOM, AND FIVE OF THEM WERE WISE AND FIVE WERE FOOLISH.
THEY THAT WERE FOOLISH, TOOK THEIR LAMPS, BUT NOT OIL WITH THEM, BUT THE WISE TOOK OIL IN THEIR VESSELS WITH THEIR LAMPS.
WHEN THE BRIDEGROOM TARRIED, THEY ALL SLUMBERED AND SLEPT AND AT MIDNIGHT THERE WAS A CRY MADE, BEHOLD, THE BRIDEGROOM COMES, GO YE OUT AND MEET HIM.
THEN ALL THE VIRGINS AROSE AND TRIMMED THEIR LAMPS AND THE FOOLISH SAID UNTO THE WISE, GIVE US OF YOUR OIL FOR OUR LAMPS ARE GONE OUT, BUT THE WISE ANSWERED SAYING, NO, LEST THERE BE NOT ENOUGH FOR US AND YOU, BUT GO RATHER TO THEM THAT SELL AND BUY FOR YOURSELVES. AND WHILE THEY WENT TO BUY THE BRIDEGROOM CAME AND THEY THAT WERE READY WENT IN WITH HIM TO THE MARRIAGE AND THE DOOR WAS SHUT. AFTERWARD CAME ALSO THE OTHER VIRGINS, SAYING, LORD, LORD, OPEN UP FOR US , BUT HE ANSWERED AND SAID , VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU I DO NOT KNOW YOU.
WATCH THEREFORE, FOR YE KNOW NEITHER THE DAY NOR THE HOUR IN WHICH THE SON OF MAN COMETH.

SYMBOLS> VIRGINS SYMB. THE BODY OF CHRIST, CHURCH
LAMP, SYMB. THE HOLY SCRIPTURES OF GOD
THE BRIDEGROOM IS JESUS CHRIST
OIL IS THE SYMBOL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
WISE INDICATES SAVED PEOPLE
FOOLISH INDICATES UNSAVED PEOPLE
TEN SPEAKS OF NATURAL RESPONSIBILITY TO GOD
FIVE SPEAKS OF WHOLE RESPONSIBILITY UNDER GOD.

THE THREE STAGES OF A JEWISH MARRIAGE.

THE 1ST STAGE WAS THE ENGAGEMENT, THIS WAS USUALLY ARRANGED AT A VERY YOUNG AGE BY PROFESSIONAL MATCHMAKERS AND THE PARENTS OF THE CHILDREN INVOLVED.
THE 2ND STAGE WAS THE ESPOUSEMENT, THIS TOOK PLACE WHEN THE COUPLE WHO WERE ENGAGED WERE UNITED IN A MARRIAGE CEREMONY BUT LIVED APART WITHOUT SEEING EACH OTHER OR KNOWING EACH OTHER SEXUALLY FOR ONE OR TWO YEARS.
THE 3RD STAGE WAS THE MARRIAGE SUPPER, IT BEGAN WITH THE COMING OF THE BRIDEGROOM FOR HIS BRIDE, FOLLOWED BY THEIR HONEYMOON, USUALLY 7 DAYS AND CONCLUDING WITH THE MEAL OR FEAST TO CELEBRATE THEIR UNION.

THE 3 STAGES OF THE MARRIAGE BETWEEN CHRIST AND HIS BRIDE , THE CHURCH,
THE 1ST STAGE IS THE ENGAGEMENT, JUST AS PARENTS, ONCE CHOSE THE MARRIAGE PARTNER FOR THEIR CHILDREN, GOD THE FATHER HAS CHOSEN THOSE WHO WILL BE PART OF THE MARRIAGE OF HIS SON.
THE 2ND STAGE IS THE SPOUSEMENT, THE MOMENT THE INDIVIDUAL RECEIVES, BY FAITH ALONE, JESUS CHRIST AS THEIR PERSONAL SAVIOR, THEY BECOME PART OF HIS BRIDE, THE BODY OF CHRIST AND ARE LEGALLY BOUND TO HIM. THIS STAGE WILL EITHER END WITH THEIR PHYSICAL DEATH , WHEN THEY FIND THEMSELVES IMMEDIATLY IN HIS PRESENCE IN HEAVEN , OR WITH THE EVENT WE CALL THE RAPTURE WHEN THE LORD JESUS COMES FOR HIS BRIDE.

THE 3RD STAGE IS THE MARRIAGE SUPPER, IT BEGINS WITH THE SUDDEN SNATCHING OUT OF HIS BRIDE, THE CHURCH , BY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, TO BE FOLLOWED BY THE JUDGEMENT SEAT OF CHRIST, THIS IS NOT A JUDGEMENT CONCERNING SIN IN THE BELIEVERS LIFE WHILE ON EARTH, BUT THE JUDGEMENT CONCERNING THE THINGS OF WORKS THEY DID AFTER THEY TRUSTED JESUS CHRIST AS THEIR PERSONAL SAVIOR, THEIR REWARDS FROM THE LORD JESUS CHRIST WILL BE GIVEN AT THIS TIME, AFTER THE JUDGEMENT SEAT OF CHRIST IS WHEN THE MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB OF CHRIST AND HIS BRIDE, THE BODY , IS CELEBRATED.

The watching bit  From: June Ritchie 10 Sep 2012 (08:50)
thats me the watching bit the need to keep the supply of oil flowing at this point in life is intense for at over seventy its too easy to slacken off and think did my bit when I was younger! Well its not so thank God Christian service doesnt end because we grow oldish. The fire can stay if we allow it to and the need there is to do nothi8ng that quenches it just because you reach seventyish. I often feel like Im looking over a fence at a hidden land and want to go into the magic of it but at the same time i burn to take others with me knowing I have onlyu one life and that is shortening. whatever aspect of service changes theres always something else turns up to do to help me keep flowing Im glad of that and do not intend letting my lamp die out b ecause of age or distractions of any kind. Life is important and what I do with it just as important now as it was forty years ago. So its a good message to think about today as i go forth as a witness in the college. TO BURN ON even though they will see a woman past her prime! To gain respect and love is a tall order today but have gained it there and I intend by Gods grace to keep it in order to make a difference in their lives. SALVATION COMETH TO ALL WHO BELIEVE.
bless you for that MaryAnn Junexx

WHAT CAUSED ALL OF THE VIRGINS TO WAKE UP FROM THEIR SLEEP ///ANSWER, SOMETHING WILL HAVE TO DISTURB THEM!

IT MUST BE UNDERSTOOD THAT THERE WILL BE 3 GROUPS OF PEOPLE ON THE EARTH WHEN THE RAPTURE TAKES PLACE.
THE 1ST GROUP WILL CONSIST OF PEOPLE WHO ARE COMPLETELY UNAWARE THAT THE RAPTURE IS ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE, MATH. 24,37,39, LUKE 17, 26.30

THEY WILL BE JUST AS IGNORANT AS THOSE PEOPLE WHO WERE ALIVE ON THE EARTH WHEN THE FLOOD THAT NOAH WARNED OF, TOOK PLACE, AND NR. 2, THE CITIES OF SODOM AND GOMORRAH WERE DESTROYED BY GOD.

THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE WERE DOING WHEN THE FLOOD TOOK PLACE IN NOAHS DAY AND WHEN THE CITIES OF SODOM AND GOMORRAH WERE DESTRYED AND WHAT PEOPLE WILL BE DOING WHEN THE RAPTURE TAKES PLACE. , EATING, DRINKING, BUYING, SELLING, PLANTING, BUILDING, MARRYING, DIVORCING, REMARRYING, / MATH. 24, 37,39, LUKE 17, 26,30

THE 2ND GROUP WILL CONSIST OF PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ARE READY TO MEET THE BRIDEGROOM CHRIST. THESE PEOPLE WHO PROFESS TO BE CHRISTIANS ARE REFERRED TO AS FOOLISH VIRGINS.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS CONCERNING THE FOOLISH VIRGINS,
WHO ARE THE FOOLISH VIRGINS, ANSWER PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ARE BORN AGAIN BELIEVERS.

WHAT IS THE LIGHT IN THEIR LAMP FUELED BY.... ANSWER, THE WICK, A SYMBOL OF FALSE RELIGIOUS BELIEFS.
WHERE DO THEY GO TO CHURCH, ANSWER. TO THE BIBLE BELIEVING CHURCHES THAT ALSO TEACH ABOUT THE RAPTURE.

WHEN DO THEY REALIZE THAT THEY ARE NOT SAVED.....ANSWER, NEAR THE TIME THAT THE RAPTURE IS ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE.

MANY PROFESSING CHRISTIANS, THE FOOLISH VIRGINS, THINK THEY ARE SAVED BECAUSE,
THEY HAVE BEEN BAPTIZED WITH WATER, SPEAK IN TONGUES, TRY TO LIVE A HOLY LIFE, THEY HAVE HAD AN EXPERIENCE, THEY OBEY GOD AND HIS COMMANDMENTS, THEY DO VARIOUS GOOD WORKS, THEY ARE MEMBERS OF A CHURCH, THEY WERE BORN OF CHRISTIAN PARENTS, THEY REPENTED OF THEIR SINS, THEY MADE JESUS LORD OF THEIR LIFE........NB! ANY PERSON WHO IS TRUSTING SOMETHING THEY HAVE DONE, OR ARE DOING OR MIGHT DO, IN ADDITION TO THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST , IS NOT SAVED!
AFTER THE RAPTURE SOME OF THOSE WHO THOUGHT THEY WERE CHRISTIANS WILL PLEAD THEIR CASE TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
THEY WILL SAY, LORD, LORD, HAVE WE NOT PROPHESIED IN THY NAME, AND IN THY NAME CAST OUT DEMONS, AND IN THY NAME DONE MANY WONDERFUL WORKS, MATH. 7,22
HIS REPLY WILL BE, I NEVER KNEW YOU, DEPART FROM ME YE WHO WORK INQUITY , MATH. 7,23

THEY WILL SAY, WE HAVE EATEN WITH YOU, AND DRANK WITH YOU AND THOU HAST TOUGHT IN OUR STREETS, LUKE 13,26
HIS REPLY IS, I KNOW YOU NOT FROM WHERE YOU ARE, DEPART FROM ME ALL YE WORKERS OF INNIQUITY , LUKE 13,27.

THEY WILL SAY , LORD, LORD OPEN UP FOR US, MATH.25,11
HE REPLIES, VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, I KNOW YOU NOT, MATH 25.12

THE 3RD GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO KNOW THAT THEY ARE READY TO MEET THE BRIDEGROOM, THESE PEOPLE WHO ARE TRUE BORN AGAIN CHRISTIANS ARE REFERRED TO AS WISE VIRGINS.

WHO ARE THESE WISE VIRGINS.....THEY ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE TRUSTING IN THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS CHRIST BY FAITH ALONE FOR THEIR SALVATION. THEY ARE TRUSTING THAT WHAT JESUS CHRIST DID FOR THEM IS ENOUGH TO SAVE THEM FROM THE PENALTY DUE THEM FOR THEIR SINS AND NOTHING ELSE. THEY ARE NOT RELYING ON ANYTHING THEY HAVE DONE OR ARE DOING OR MIGHT DO , IN ADDITION TO WHAT JESUS CHRIST DID, TO INSURE THEIR SALVATION. FOR THEM TO DO SO, WOULD BE TO ENGAGE IN A FORM OF RELIGION.

THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WISE AND THE FOOLISH VIRGINS, THE WISE VIRGINS HAVE JESUS CHRIST AS THEIR SAVIOR, THE FOOLISH VIRGINS HAVE NOTHING MORE THAN RELIGION.

THE PARABLE OF THE TEN VIRGINS -  From: pauline Tait 21 Sep 2012 (13:19)
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

When reading about the five wise and the five foolish virgins there are many ways a person could interpret their meanings. One of the things that make a difference in understanding is whether we believe in Grace as the basis of our salvation or whether we believe that works is the basis of our salvation. If you believe that you are saved by grace then you will probably believe that the five foolish virgins were not born again or they were possibly backslidden and will be left behind in the rapture of the Church. If you believe that works determines your salvation you will probably believe that the five foolish were Christians that were in a fallen state and that all five are destined for Hell and eternal damnation. Hopefully we will come to the right understanding of this parable before we are finished.

Matthew 25:

1: Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2: And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3: They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5: While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6: And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7: Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8: And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9: But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10: And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11: Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12: But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13: Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

There are several things to consider when reading these scriptures:

They are all virgins
They all slumbered and slept
They all had lamps
They were all looking for the bridegroom
They had all gone out to meet him.
The only difference was that the foolish did not take any oil.
When we see these ten virgins the first thought that comes to us this that of the Bride of Christ. The fact that the Word says that we are supposed to be as chaste virgins. There is a little disappointment in not seeing her as brides but rather as to find that these are considered to be bridesmaids.

The reason for this is because we as individuals, are not the Bride of Christ. The Church is the Bride. We are only a part of the Bride and like the bridesmaids we will attend the wedding. But the Church in its totality is to be considered as the Bride. In this parable the five wise Virgins are the true Church and have been born again with eternal oil.

There are those in the Church known nowadays as Nominal Christians. There are millions of these in our land today. Only 47 percent of all who claim to be Christians in America are truly born again according to Gallup poll. Which means that they have a personal experience and know that they are born again. There are two types of oil: one is the Holy Spirit that produces the righteousness in the born again Christian. The other is the oil of self-will and self-discipline. This is what Paul would call; establishing our own form of righteousness. There are many that come to Church with this kind of oil. But this oil is only from the human heart and will run out because it is not eternal. Just as the oil ran out for the Covenant of Moses this kind of oil in the heart that is not born again will eventually burn out.

The fact that they were all virgins symbolized that they were all living righteously. Which tells us that there was no difference between the five wise and the five foolish. When it came to living right, they were pure.

They all slumbered and slept when the bridegroom tarried. They all believed that he had delayed his coming so they had gone to bed. Perhaps they thought that he would come the next day. Of course we know that the cry went out at midnight. The significance of this is that they all believed that they were ready. I don’t suppose that any of them believed that he would come in the night. So both groups of virgins were taken by surprise.

The next point is that they all had lamps. The difference of course was that the wise had taken extra oil in their vessels, the foolish didn’t take any more than what they had in their lamps. This is the factor that is going to open our understanding to what Jesus was teaching these people. And as to what he was talking about. The Lamps and the oil in them are the answer to the mystery.

These lamps and their oil could also represent the two covenants and the Spirit of God that is in them. We must realize that when Jesus came to Israel the Jewish people were under the Law of Moses. They at the time were the only lights that God would use to show the world his will. The oil or the Spirit of God was in this covenant. This covenant, The Law of Moses, was the light that they were showing to the world. The people who sincerely followed and lived by this covenant were considered righteous by God. It was the only light in the world until the time that Jesus came.

When Jesus came he gave us a brand New Covenant. Because of this New Covenant, God would change his method of doing things. When Jesus was crucified he established his new covenant with all mankind. But, Israel would have a real problem with this simply because they would not be able to understand. So Jesus in this parable was trying to reach their minds in order to show them the end results of not accepting the New Covenant that he had given.

One of the things we must consider is that Israel had been placed in partial blindness as a judgment for past sins. So the scripture \"many are called but few are chosen\" was fulfilled at the time of Christ. They have remained in darkness for the most part until this day. Many of them are still trusting in the Old Covenant as the way to get to God. This is the very basis of this parable. The five foolish virgins are the children of Israel who believe that this is the way. This is the very basis of this parable. The five foolish virgins are the children of Israel who believe that this is the way. They live as righteous as they can. The Lamp they carry is the Law of Moses and they try to celebrate and share this as much as they possibly can. In fact you can become a Jew if you want to. They are looking for new converts all the time. They are also looking for the bridegroom to come. You see Israel believes that the Messiah has never come. So they are also looking for his appearing. They also to this day believe that he has delayed his coming.

The five wise virgins represent the Jewish people who were following Jesus at that time. This also includes the Church, both Jew and Gentile across the earth today. The lamp that we carry is the New Covenant, or the New Testament that Jesus has given to us. This lamp is now the light of the World. We call it the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. When we witness or share this Gospel we become a city set on a hill for all men to see. When the bridegroom comes this is the people who will be ready to meet him. Just like Israel we are looking for the Messiah, the only difference is that it is his Second Coming, not his first.

When the veil of the Temple was rent the Spirit of God left. But, I believe that God gave Israel a period of forty years to repent and accept Jesus. Jesus told them that the Temple would be destroyed. In exactly 40 years from the time Jesus spoke those words the Temple was destroyed and Jerusalem was captured. It was at this time that the oil ran out for the Old Covenant. I believe that God gave them this space before the oil would run out. Today they are carrying a lamp without oil.

The message in this parable is to show them and us the futility of trying to be saved through the Law of Moses. There is only one covenant that will save us, and that is the New Covenant of faith in Jesus through his blood and accomplishments at the cross. Paul said that the preaching of the cross was the power of God unto Salvation. There is absolutely no other way. We can all live right, be looking for the Messiah, but if we are not in the New Covenant through faith in Jesus we will be lost.

The extra oil in the Lamp of the Church is the fact that the New Covenant is eternal. He said that the Holy Ghost would abide with us forever. The oil in our lamps will never run out as long as we are truly looking for Jesus to come.

The foolish virgins went to the wise virgins trying to get them to share their oil. The problem with this was that the wise were unable to do this. All they could do was point the way to those who could. Go to the sellers. It is symbolic of us preaching the Gospel. All we can do is tell others where to go to get it. Isaiah said it like this.

Isa: 55:1: Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

We cannot give someone else the Holy Spirit. Only God can do that. So it is necessary for those who are trying to make it to heaven any other way to go to Jesus to get the oil. The message is to get the oil of salvation from Jesus so that you can be saved. How do we buy it? With our faith! Believing enough to come to him and ask.

The Gentile Church needs to have a heart towards Israel and give them the Gospel so that they will not be rejected when Jesus comes. It is up to us to make the difference. God has placed this ministry in our hands. Paul told us in the 11th Chapter of Romans that God had placed Israel in blindness so that he could have mercy on us. He did it this way so that through our mercy they would find mercy. What he was saying was this. God put Israel in blindness so that we could be saved. His plan is that after we have been saved we would in turn give them the Gospel and then they will be saved. It is his perfect will for this to happen.

I hope that you have enjoyed this teaching. If you have please share it with someone you love.

God bless you.

parable of the 10 virgins  From: maryann 21 Sep 2012 (22:23)
Just to remind you, the kingdom of God living in you...you, living in kingdom authority...ref...The Lord s prayer.....Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.......these are the one s that will repr. the virgins who had oil in their vessels, ready when Jesus comes to fetch His bride.....Jesus isnt going to fetch any church, HE is going to fetch those with His kingdom in them.....each individual with God s kingdom living in them........
We bless and pray for Israel and great revival is going on in Israel in these days.....those living in God s kingdom will also be taken up in the rapture.....the rest will be ministered to by the 12 tribes of Israel during the tribulation years, as the rest of the world will be as well, i.e. after the first 3 years......and at the very end God will send His angels to minister to those left....you can read all about this in the book of Revelation.

By the way, my input of the 10 virgins is from one of the leading experts on the subject...he also knows all about Israel and how God speaks to us through His Word concerning the end times.....Israel......and the gentiles.

great topic.. We must rember when we repented and confessedJesus Christ is the Son of God. our salvation is secure..Our desttiny is Heaven, Christ has already recieved us were the onesthat has been plucked from the highway and bye ways to attend the wedding feast. In which the friends and neighbours (the Jew ) refused..Hence the scripture in question is addressed to the Jew. For us born again spirit filled christian can you see the bigger picturr. The point is do u have this glorious reassurance of salvation secured and excited that we will be hailed with with a trumpet call, the dead first and then those alive will be raptured
before Gods wrath falls upon a corript and sinful world where people will do a greater evil than the days of Noah. For they will be worsjipping not an idol or a cow but anti christ himself.. dd

Replacement theology  From: pauline Tait 09 Nov 2012 (09:35)
Dave me darling is what u wrote replacement theology and if it\'s not can anyone tell me what replacement theology is....oops please

Replacement theology!  From: maryann 10 Nov 2012 (06:11)
R.Theology is anything that differs from God s Word.....when we compromise or change words to suit our own, when our own understanding goes before God s ...when we dont have The Holy spirit leading our lives, its easy to fall into these traps.....like today we have the interfaith churches that say all religions lead to God, instead of telling the truth that Jesus Christ is the only way to God, Like Crislam, who embraces christianity and Islam, which has no similarity... In the end of Revelation God s Word says; 22:18-19 For i testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, if anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book. And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy , God shall take away his part from the Book of Life from the holy city and from the things which are writtrn in this book. ...He who testifies to these things says, SURELY , I AM COMING QUICKLY! (Jesus)

What Mary Ann wrote?  From: June Ritchie 10 Nov 2012 (08:34)
That seems good to me a very clear picture of replacement theology there.
Do gooders are doing their best to agree with the Islam religion that God and Allah are one and the same. But the born again disciple has living inside of him/ her the one true God who is a Father and not just a God but as we are told in the written word we have been adopted into His family.
That means we do not just put Him on like a cloak of religion that lives only on a prayer mat at certain times. But we now actually live for and serve a reality God and Father who has created us with the sole desire to bring us into His ever increasing family.
Sons and daughters created by the Spirit being begat in a heavenly sense!
Then the fact that He is our FaTHER HAS TO BE THE CLUE THAT KEEPS US STEADY AND BALANCED IN OUR BELIEFS. What a wonderful comfort it is to know God as one\'s Heavenly Father? what a difference it can make in one\'s heart and life!
Not just a religious experience but a wonderful ADOPTION forever and ever.
GLORY! junex

Thanks folks I knew replacement theology was about Israel/our Jewish family...I just wasn\'t sure if that\'s what Dave was saying....hard to grasp everything without body language etc I love the Internet and use it extensivly to minister prayer/salvation etc but words without tone can be misleading.....

View Matthew 22:1-14

Scorning the King\'s Son

Those who dishonor the Son shame and dishonor the Father who sent him. It was common for kings or important personages to throw wedding banquets for sons, to which they might invite the entire village (compare, for example, Char. Chaer. 3.2.10). But the banquet here makes special allusion to the promised banquet of the messianic era. In the narrative logic of the Gospel, Jesus is finally ready to unveil his identity in the final week (see Kingsbury 1986:81-84).

Other Jewish prophets had also applied the principle of special accountability to those closest to the Word (for example, Amos 3:2; 9:7). Whether the parable emphasizes judgment on all Israel (compare Sandmel 1978a:60; Mt 27:25), on Israel as a whole but not individual Jews (Hare 1979:39) or on the Judean leadership in particular (21:43-45) is debated, but the burning of the city in Matthew probably refers to the destruction of Jerusalem (Jeremias 1972:33; Hare 1979:39). In the context, Jesus\' harsh words condemn Israel\'s leaders. Yet as often in his Gospel, Matthew apparently uses the community\'s opponents to warn members of his own community not to be like them. Not only Jesus\' enemies but even some oObservations on the Text

The meaning of this parable in the context of the Lord’s Passion Week, in which he was to be betrayed and crucified, is pretty clear--it condemns the contempt that Israel as a whole (and everyone in general) had (and has) for God’s gracious invitation through Jesus the Messiah.

The focus of the parable is on the wedding banquet of the Son. The reference is naturally to the Messianic banquet, which is not only mentioned in the New Testament (Rev. 19) but also in the Rabbinic Literature. At the end of the age, the Jewish tradition held, all the people of God--Israel--would enjoy a Messianic banquet in their transition from this life to the life to come. The details of that banquet, or the New Testament’s marriage supper of the Lamb, cannot be pressed too much since the circumstances are different, as we shall see.

We may also observe that the parable clearly intends to portray Israel’s spiritual indifference to the invitation in the sharpest way, culminating in their killing the messengers of the covenant. In Matthew 23 Jesus will accuse the hypocritical leaders of killing the prophets.
f his supposed friends (22:11-14) would betray him.

Replacement theology!  From: maryann 11 Nov 2012 (05:25)
So right, the church can never replace Israel,God s covenent with them stands forever and it will all be as HE has promised in His word, but we must understand that God also speaks to us by His Holy Spirit (the body of Christ) so its only when the Holy spirit lives in us...The 3rd person in the trinity, HE is our comforter, adviser, everything we need , as Jesus said God His Father would send to us His comforter.....HE shows us what He means in His Word...He also speaks to us, His body through all the Words that are meant to ALL of us.. both jew and gentile.....many Words have a double meaning but we can only know that when we live in a deep relationship with God.

Replacement theology!  From: maryann 11 Nov 2012 (05:34)
another thing, Jesus is our savior, -he is also Israels savior and they will recognize Him when the \"veil gets taken away\" ...although thousands are getting saved in these days, in Israel and amongst jews all around the world! Revival is taking place...i have friends there who run a ministry, so i get up to date news....amazing things are happening! Jews have to get saved just as gentiles, we all have to come to the cross, bow down to Jesus our redeemer who bought us with His blood! The only diffr. is that all born again believers (jews included) will be judged by Jeshua while God will judge Israel
