|God\'s plans work out but in His way not ours. There was a famine and Isaac was with the Philistines in Gerar but he was contemplating going to Egypt. WHY?
Could it have been that the grass always seems greener on the other side?
God knew what he was wondering and knew also it was not what He planned for \\him so we read on and find a word of comfort, advice and a very clear promise of support from Father on his position before Him.
V2-5 And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall the nationms of the earth be blessed;
Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
So there we have it we are belonging to the plans of God, we have a stake in taking the earth\'s cities etc for Christ and we have an eternal stake in heaven. It is one that we will take up one day when Jesus returns for us to take us home. what an astounding sight that will be; JEW, GENTILE< EUROPEAN< ASIAN<AFRICAN< all together in the heavenly place worshipping God as one!
It will be incredible not a single land missed out for Abraham will have seed representatives in every land round the globe! All different, yet all the same!
Are things so different for us then in this modern time? We are born again Christians and according to our bible we are now the seed of Abraham!
If so then everything God said to Isaac in Gen 26 is for us and not only now but also in heaven for this is only our sojourn! We have a new and better land to go to! God\'s plan misses out nobody who loves and serves Him.
And as we sojourn through life now, we are called to touch the lives of others for good, to help make their lives better and to let our light shine before men. Just as jesus did before us.
But also whilst here we are do the requirements of God that He spoke of to Isaac, when describing Abraham\'s faithfulness. V5= Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
It\'s a tall order to accomplish in a world that has become increasingly wicked and it means no empty talk, no sitting on the fence, no just looking and turning away. To be Christ-like means getting our hands dirty! inspiring one another to better things, being fruitful in every good work and fulfilling the plan of God for our lives, (so when did Abraham retire and talk instead of walk?) on his deathbed he stretched his faith again to believe for a wife for his son from his family in the old country. God said YES that\'s my plan too, so He gave him his desire!I would say Abraham died happy in God\'s love.
That\'s what I want too! It\'s all I want to live out the bible\'s teachings as Abraham\'s seed until called home, OR Jesus comes to take me to His throneroom. I leave it to HIM which it will be, In the meantime, whilst waiting, theres work to do, people to save and heal, Christians to inspire and set on fire,
Our task=To obey His voice. His plan is to Speak to us in ways we can hear.
To be found serving more than talking is our goal then. For the hour is late!
Because now the mind of Christ is needed more than ever before. Let\'s run the race well and receive the prize as Abraham\'s kids. Blessings Junex
